Set the correct partition active. When Windows is running under Legacy BIOS + MBR mode, the boot partition/system partition should be set as active so that MBR can pass boot right to boot manager and find Windows. If the system partition or boot partition is not set to active, you may encounter the operating system not found issue.

Only a primary partition can be made active. There can be only one active partition per physical hard disk. If you have multiple hard disks installed on your computer, it's possible for each hard disk to have a partition set as active. However, the active partition on the first hard disk that your computer's BIOS detects is the one that will. Configuration Partition. Just like schema partition, there is just one master configuration partition per forest and a second one on all DCs in a forest. It contains the forest-wide active directory topology including DCs and sites and services. It is replicated to all DCs in a forest. Domain Partition. If you had the dual boot situation working, you selected the Mac operating system one, then you deleted that partition somehow, then you deleted the partition that was 'flagged' Active. Boot the computer using the Ubuntu CD with gparted on it, run gparted and find the setting to make the partition Windows itself was installed on Active.
